Grace VanderWaal Shows Off New Disney+ Movie at D23

The New Star of Disney's adaptation of Jerry Spinelli's movie Stargirl Grace VanderWaal, takes the stage at D23 today to present the film in which she made her film debut. She promised that her character was "quite herself", describing the film as an inspiring story for young children.

Julia Hart directs the film from a scenario that she wrote with her partner Jordan Horowitz. Kristin Hahn has created the on-screen adaptation of Spinelli's award-winning novel about non-compliance and pride in your style and personality.

The novel follows Leo Borlock, a normal child, who will never stand out. Then Stargirl arrives at Mica High and changes everything. After 15 years of school at home, Stargirl enter the tenth grade, a colorful whirlwind playing the ukulele. While the school's society rejects her for her uniqueness, Leo falls in love with her. Through Stargirl Spinelli explores the tense and emotional journey of high school, the nature of conformity and the joy of first love.

The casting of Grace VanderWaal is perfectly fitting given that she won American & # 39; s Got Talent at age 12 for playing the ukulele. After her victory, she released an EP in 2016 with her first album "Perfectly Imperfect".
