Keanu Reeves Slides Between Ali Wong & Randall Park

Netflix released the first trailer of his new rom-com, Always Be My Maybe . The streaming service has had a bit of luck with some of their romantic comedy deals, such as To All the Boys I've Loved Before and Set It Up . This one looks a little different, because it seems to be inspired by Crazy Rich Asians 's success by giving us a predominantly Asian cast called Ali Wong and Randall Park. Based on this first trailer, it seems like it's going to be a winning combination.

The trailer sets up something of a classic principle. A woman has the life of her dreams, at least on the surface. A beautiful career, a beautiful fiancé and a glamorous lifestyle. However, things get shaky when she has to go back to her hometown and she old throws herself into an old one that Fling certainly does not have a similar way of life, to say the least. Oh, and Keanu Reeves of John Wick and of the fame of Matrix . And his entrance is really something to see. Naturally, the trailer uses Mariah Carey's success, Always Be My Baby.

A poster for the film has also been published. It really pushes the premise home of the movie, with our two main characters almost hand-in-hand, but not quite to make it happen. Ali Wong looks a little hesitant, while Randall Park is rather impatient. The poster is accompanied by this slogan appearing on the nose.

"There has always been something between them."

Always be my maybe centers on childhood friends Sasha (Ali Wong) and Marcus (Randall Park). They argue and do not talk for 15 years. That all changes when Sasha, now a famous chef in Los Angeles, returns to San Francisco to open a new restaurant. When she returns, she comes up against Marcus, a complacent musician who still lives at home and works for his father. Both, at first, are reluctant to reconnect, but they quickly find the old sparks.

The distribution of this latest original Netflix comedy also includes Michelle Buteau ( Broad City ), Vivian Bang ( White Rabbit ), Karan Soni ( Deadpool 2 ), Charlyne Yi ( Heart Paper ), Daniel Dae Kim ( Hellboy ), James Saito ( While We Are Young ) and the rapper Lyrics Born. This comes from director Nahnachka Khan, known for his work in television shows such as Fresh Off the Boat and Don & Trust the B **** in Apt. 23 . Randall Park is one of the stars of Fresh Off the Boat so he has already worked with Nahnachka.

The screenplay was written by Ali Wong, Randall Park and Michael Golamco ( Grimm Please Stand By ). Nathan Kahane, Erin Westerman, Ali Wong, Randall Park and Brendan Ferguson serve as producers. Make sure to check the trailer Always Be My Maybe below. The film will be available on the Netflix streaming service starting May 31st.
